Thirty youth from various public housing communities were invited to participate in WE Day California thanks to film star Tyrese Gibson and his Love Circle Foundation. The Six-time GRAMMY® nominee, author, producer, and philanthropist reached out to the Housing Authority and personally extended an invitation to We Day California, a day filled with world-renowned speakers and performers, mixed with real inspirational stories of change. The event is a gathering of young adults to inspire them to think about how they can think about tackling social challenges and initiate making positive changes in their own communities.
Tyrese Gibson was instrumental in bringing We Day to California. This is the second year for Los Angeles to play host City to We Day California. Actress and recording artist Selena Gomez was the host introducing speakers like Lizzie Velasquez, a global motivational speaker, anti-bullying activist, social media personality, and author; Social entrepreneur Donovan Smith, founder of Toil and Trouble Bath as well as artists Alicia Keys, DJ Khaled, Demi Lovato, Jessie J, and many others.
