Adidas Employees Volunteer at Imperial Courts and Donate Gear to Youth

Over 200 Adidas Employees participated in a two-day volunteer event at Imperial Courts public housing site in Watts. This project came to fruition through a partnership between Adidas and Watts Empowerment Center operated by Redeye, HACLA’s on-site service provider. Adidas also brought in their non-profit partners LA Works, Good Sports and the U.S. Soccer Foundation to assist with refurbishing sports spaces for kids.

“Adidas believes that through sport, we have the power to change lives. Our volunteers came to Watts to bring this core belief to life. Through our Social Purpose platform, we are helping to remove barriers to sports for kids. We see sport as so much bigger than the game. Communities and culture are built around sport. We are empowering our employees to give back through sport,” said Tauna Dean, director of Social Purpose team for Adidas.

Over the course of two days, Adidas volunteers refurbished the baseball diamond, created a new soccer pitch and new basketball court, repainted the skate park and painted a mural. In addition, volunteers gave away over 200 head-to-toe Adidas sports kits to the youth of Imperial Courts. Each kit included a drawstring pack, 2 shirts, a pair of shorts, socks, shoes, a hat and a handwritten note from Adidas employees with an inspirational message for each Adidas sports kit recipient.

“I am proud and very excited about the donation the Adidas Corporation has made to our community. Through their acts of generosity, Adidas has helped to improve community life by promoting diversity through sports and helping to create a safe place for the children in the community to play,” said Latoya Hairston, site manager of Imperial Courts.
