On April 6, 2018, HACLA was joined by Councilmember Joe Buscaino and Van Scott from Bridge Housing on a tour of phase 1A of the redevelopment of Jordan Downs in Watts. 3,000 Section 8 Homes Eligible to Receive a Free Laptop & Low-Cost Internet
The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson, non-profit human-I-T and Frontier Communications, today launched a new effort to connect over 3,000 eligible Section 8 households to low-cost internet programs. Homeless Veterans find a new home on the West LA VA Campus
Monty Williams was not shy about inviting the Housing Authority staff to show off his new home. He said “go ahead, you can open the closets”.  The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Interim Deputy Secretary took up his offer and peeked in.  Monty is one of 54 formerly homeless Veterans who now call building 209 at the West LA VA Campus home. Groundbreaking of first residential phase of Jordan Downs Revitalization
Jordan Downs, a 1950s-era public housing development in Watts, achieves a major milestone on June 5 with the ceremonial groundbreaking of the first phase of new residential construction.
