This summer, hundreds of families throughout our public housing communities had a chance to spend time with our management staff and their neighbors through the Family Movie Night event. The get together was put on by each site’s manager to help build positive family relationships. LAPD Youth Sports Program Changes Hearts, Minds in Watts
WATTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police officers are on the offense and defense this summer in Watts. UrbanTXT Sponsors Hustle & Code Hackathon at Nickerson Gardens, Children Make Apps and Websites for the First Time
Nickerson Gardens held its first day-long Hackathon, where one hundred (100) children spent the afternoon designing phone apps and websites to help improve their community. The winning entry was the website Feed Watts, where one could add the date of a food drive or giveaway. Twenty-seven Public Housing High School Graduates Receive Academic Scholarships to Pursue Higher Education
The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) awarded twenty-seven (27) students from housing developments academic scholarships towards their college education.
